Elements of Art; The Royal Towers

An extraordinary piece of architecture that I enjoy is in the Bahamas. I don’t think many people actually know about this wonderful piece of architecture, so I decided to share it. I believe this piece of architecture will inform readers that there are so many wonderful pieces around the world, not including the most famous ones that we are already know. This specific piece of architecture is actually the main hotel on a resort. The building is called, “The Royal Towers.” As I was reading an article, I learned that this resort first opened in 1998 (Zemier, 2018, para 3).

Researching and observing this extraordinary piece of architecture excites me, and brings me so much serenity and joy. However, the fact that I have actually had the opportunity to stay in this building, makes it even more breathtaking and surreal. From the outside, to the inside, the rush of emotions continue throughout your whole body. 

This building inspires me because of all the intricate details, and colors. Which reminds me to take the time to be patient, and pay close attention to all the details, from the little ones to the larger ones. For example, at dusk, the hotel lights beautifully gleam off the water. Having the opportunity to get up close to the hotel, allowed me to see each detail.

I believe the theme inside this hotel is expressed in many ways. Firstly, this hotel is surrounded by the color gold. Which makes me  think of royalty and courage. Secondly, the fact that it’s based off of a mythical story adds to the theme of mysteriousness. Whenever I see a picture of this building, it fills me with happiness, and allows me to reminisce on all the memories that my family and I created at this wonderful resort. 

The architecture on the outside lets the audience feel as though they jumped into a time capsule and went back in time. This piece of architecture gives off a powerful attitude. Which strengthens the structure of the building.

I actually already own a picture of this building. When my family and I were on vacation, we took several pictures of its amazing architecture. 

The backstory of this architecture, is based off of the story, “The Lost City of Atlantis.” This is a popular story around the world, and there are many different opinions and beliefs on this story. This story is based during the Greek mythology period. Its about a civilization sinking under the ocean, and not being able to be found. Although, this story has many different versions, I love that it brings people hope, and curiosity to each of the readers.

I believe that each piece of architecture has its own story. Each of these unique art structures allow the readers to create a deeper understanding about the architecture. Each building has their own characteristics that help state what that building represents. A Tall, strong piece of architecture is built to last and have a solid foundation. The foundation and construction of a building is very important, because this determines just how durable it is and the expected lifetime of this piece of art. 

The same goes with other art pieces. Most of the best pieces have a strong, and intriguing story behind them, making that piece even stronger. 

This assignment helped me realize that art is everywhere. It allows us to see the world differently.
